Tour Overview
Twice a week, the quiet streets of Chichicastenango transform into a vibrant maze of colors, voices, aromas, and culture. Locals and visitors come together to buy and sell textiles, crafts, flowers, food, and more at what’s considered the largest and most iconic market in Central America.
At the heart of town stands the 480-year-old white church of Chichicastenango, built atop 20 original Mayan steps — one for each day of the Mayan calendar. On market days, these steps are filled with flower vendors, incense, and traditional prayers, creating a unique blend of Mayan and Catholic traditions.
