FAQ

What to pack?

Wear sport clothing, mountain or sports shoes, sunscreen, food, some fruit such as mandarins and bananas by potassium and a 1-2 liter of water.

How hard is the hike?

The Pacaya Volcano Half Day Trip can be considered an easy hike but that does not mean it is not a challenging volcano!

The hike from the trailhead to the lava fields takes around 1-2.5 hours then go exploring; looking at hot-spots, any new lava flows and roasting marshmallows usually takes around 1.5 hours then it is around 1 - 2 hours back to the trailhead to take our shuttle back to Antigua Guatemala.

What schedule is better?

It depends on the season. If it is the rainy season we recommend doing it in the morning; if it is not rainy season we recommend doing it in the afternoon.

Where do I get picked up from?

It's a door to door service. The shuttle can arrive 15 mins before or 15 mins after the time agreed at the place you have chosen. The bus takes 1 hour to arrive at the Pacaya Volcano from Antigua Guatemala.

Can I do Pacaya Volcano on horseback?

There is always the option of doing Volcan Pacaya on horseback if you get tired. This costs around Q150 (one way) and is paid directly to the person leading the horse.
